Consultation Fees
Patients are able to claim a rebate from Medicare for their consultation. To be eligible for a rebate at the specialist rate a current referral is required from your optometrist or general practitioner. A discount is given to patients who choose to settle their account on the day of consultation, a further discount is also given to patients who hold a current Pensioner Health Benefits card. Bulk Billing is not routinely offered to patients.
Procedure Fees
The ophthalmic surgeons at The Eye Hospital are all registered "No Gap" providers and in most instances patients with private health insurance who are admitted to hospital will have no out of pocket cost for their surgical procedure. Uninsured patients will receive a rebate from Medicare and are required to settle the balance of their account promptly.
Theatre Fees
Patients with private hospital insurance, are, in most cases eligible for a rebate from their private health fund for their theatre fee. Patients are advised to check prior to admission with their health fund their eligibility for a refund. Patients without private insurance may be eligible for a discount and will be advised of this prior to admission.
Uninsured patients are required to settle their account within thirty days of their admission.
